Nur Tab Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

Nur Tab (“the Extension”) is a free browser new-tab extension for Chrome and Firefox. We do not operate servers or user accounts.

What we collect

Nothing on our servers. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell your personal data to ourselves because we have no backend infrastructure.

What stays on your device

The Extension stores the following locally in your browser using the extension storage API:

Third-party services

When you use the Extension, your browser may contact these third-party services:

ServicePurposeData sent
UmmahAPI Ayat of the day, prayer times, today's Hijri date Ayah request; latitude/longitude for prayer times; your IP address
Open-Meteo City search Search query; your IP address
BigDataCloud Reverse geocoding after using device location Latitude/longitude; your IP address
Google Fonts Typography (Inter, Amiri) Standard font request; your IP address

We do not control these third parties. Please review their respective privacy policies.

Location

Location is requested once (or when you update it in Settings) to show accurate prayer times. Coordinates are sent to UmmahAPI when fetching prayer times for supported calculation methods. Kemenag (Indonesia) is calculated on-device instead. We do not track your location continuously.

If UmmahAPI is unreachable, prayer times for non-Kemenag methods fall back to on-device calculation so the tab still works.

Permissions

Geolocation is accessed via the browser’s standard Geolocation API on the new-tab page (Chrome only; optional). Notifications are optional and can be turned off in Settings.

Children

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be reflected in the Extension repository and on this page.
